Summary

The Director of Business Operations is the "Architect of Execution" for Smartech. Reporting to the GM of Smartech AI, you are responsible for the internal machinery that turns strategy into results. This is an individual contributor role that functions as the connective tissue across the organization—engineering, commercial, and support functions. Your goal is to instill a culture of high-velocity execution and operational rigor, ensuring that as Smartech scales from 1 to N, it does so with standardized processes, clear decision-making frameworks, and relentless focus on the highest-value priorities.

An exciting opportunity to serve as the operational heartbeat of Smartech AI. As the Director of Business Operations, you will be the primary catalyst for speed and discipline, transforming ambitious AI strategy into a high-performance reality. If you are a relentless builder who thrives on bringing order to complexity and has a passion for scaling innovation, we invite you to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

Establish the Operating Rhythm: Design and lead the cadence for business reviews, sprint planning, and leadership syncs. Ensure meetings are high-impact, decision-oriented, and result in clear accountability.

Drive Execution Rigor: Act as the "Disciplinarian of Progress." Track key milestones across all departments, identifying "red" projects early and forcing the trade-off decisions necessary to keep the pace high.

Standardize the "Smartech Way": Build the institutional playbooks for every core business process—from how we intake new product requirements to how we manage the customer lifecycle and internal hand-offs.

Strategic Alignment: Ensure that every team’s "to-do list" is ruthlessly aligned with the organizational priorities. Prevent "drift" where teams spend energy on low-impact activities.

Decision Support & Governance: Create the frameworks that allow teams to make fast, data-driven decisions. Own the"Single Source of Truth" for business health metrics (KPIs).

Scaling Infrastructure: Identify, design, and implement the tools, systems, and delivery mechanisms (product ops, deployment playbooks, CRM, project management) required to scale AI solutions from pilot deployments to repeatable, enterprise-grade offerings

Special Projects & Bottleneck Clearing: Drop into high-friction areas of the business—whether in supply chain, commercial, or deployment—to diagnose issues, build a process, and hand it back to the team.

Education and Experience

• 12+ years of experience in Business Ops, Chief of Staff roles, or Management Consulting, ideally within a high-growth tech or industrial transformation environment.

• The "Scaler" Track Record: Experience taking an organization through a significant growth phase or post-acquisition integration.

• IC Leadership: Demonstrated success in "leading by influence"—getting results from teams that do not report to you.

• Cross-Functional Breadth: Experience touching Sales Ops, Product Ops, and Finance, giving you a 360-degree view of how a business unit runs.

• Business Operating Systems: Deep knowledge of frameworks like EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), Lean, or Agile Business Management.

• Strategic Project Management: Mastery of high-level orchestration; managing the "forest" while ensuring the "trees" are healthy.

• Change Management: Proven ability to drive adoption of new processes in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.

• Operational Analytics: Proficiency in translating raw business data into actionable insights for executive leadership.

• Communication Mastery: Ability to synthesize complex organizational issues into clear, concise updates and action plans.

Other Skills

• Execution Obsessed: You value "done" over "perfect." You have a natural internal drive to close loops and cross the finish line.

• Process Architect: You see the world in workflows. You have a unique ability to take a chaotic, manual task and turn it into a repeatable, scalable system.

• High-Stakes Facilitator: You can walk into a room of conflicting opinions and drive the group to a decision through logic, data, and influence.

• Radical Ownership: You don't say "that's not my job." If there is a gap in the business, you own the solution until a permanent home for it is found.

• Constructive Challenger: You are comfortable speaking truth to power and holding senior leaders accountable to their commitments and deadlines.
